چکیده
Despite the growing impact of enzyme catalysis in industrial chemistry, full potential this technology is yet to be unlocked. Accessing new chemistries and expanding scope existing reactions necessary order make biocatalysis a pivotal manufacturing chemicals across whole spectrum. This review highlights how biocatalytic toolbox for synthetic chemistry has recently been expanded by extending industrially relevant reactions, addition via discovery or protein engineering.

متن کاملWhey upgrading by enzyme biocatalysis
Whey is a co-product of processes for the production of cheese and casein that retains most of the lactose content in milk. World production of whey is estimated around 200 million tons per year with an increase rate of about 2%/per year. Milk production is seasonal, so surplus whey is unavoidable. Traditionally, whey producers have considered it as a nuisance and strategies of whey handling ha...
متن کاملExpanding the Scope of Protein Science and Engineering with Noncanonical Amino Acids
Noncanonical amino acids (ncAAs) have the potential to greatly expand the chemical functionalities available within proteins. Methodologies for the genetic encoding and incorporation of ncAAs into proteins using the protein synthesis machinery from living organisms are now quite common, and applications of proteins containing ncAAs are emerging in a variety of fields. In this review, we highlig...
